A prominent historian and expert on secret societies, Dr. Jean F. receives Pepys diary with great elation. Immediately, the good doctor and his daughter, Nadia, embark on a voyage across the Atlantic. Once in London, Dr. F. contacts Ignatius, and begins inquiries about the Brotherhood of Hecate. One day, Ignatius gets a strong urge to visit Jean at his hotel. There, Ignatius finds the mortally wounded Jean, who gasps, "Murder. Adam Crowley. Brotherhood of..." The diary is missing.
